Car & Customer: A lifelong relationship

After working at the Ford Motor Company in America, Dick Bayford returned to Melbourne and established a Ford dealership in Fitzroy in 1917. His belief, that selling a car signalled the beginning of a lifelong relationship, is still practised today.

We are focused on evolution

Dick’s nephew Alwin was Managing Director of the Ford dealership from 1946 to 1976, and in 1966, he successfully moved the dealership from Fitzroy to Preston.

Since then, Bayford Group has grown spectacularly. From a single franchise employing 60 people, it is now a Ten Site Dealership with several hundred employees, selling in excess of 1000 New and Used Vehicles each month. While the business has continued to evolve since 1917, the focus on fostering lifelong relationships with our customers has never changed.
